Charlie Breneman

VARSITY HEAD COACH

It is hard for me to believe that I just finished my 22nd year coaching at Edison and 17th as the Varsity coach. My passion for coaching has only increased over the years and I am thankful that we got to have a season this year considering the circumstances. Every season brings forth new challenges and this year we met those challenges, achieved success in Surf League and had a good run in the CIF playoffs. I am very proud of what our players accomplished this season.

I am a proud product of Edison soccer and want the players to benefit from this program the way I did. The success of this program is very important to me but am more concerned with the growth of the players as young men. I would hope that the hard work one discipline that we are teaching to the players could translate and help them after high school. We are products of our teachers and role models, and it is our goal to make a positive impact. As a player, I played youth soccer with South Coast soccer club and Wolfpack. I played for Edison from 94-98, and then went to play two years at Golden West College where I was the team captain. I coached at Wolfpack soccer club winning a State Cup and two league titles. Then with the Huntington Beach Chapter of Pateadores Soccer Club winning one league title. I graduated from Cal State University of Long Beach with a degree in Liberal Studies. I earned my teaching credential from National University. I feel honored and proud to be teaching for the SAC department here at Edison. I helped open a vegan restaurant at the Lab in Costa Mesa called Seabirds. My other passion besides soccer is music. I am kind of a music geek and collect records as it stands, I own over 2,200 LP’s. I also collect cacti and pottery
