With 16 years of dedicated coaching experience at Edison High School’s boys varsity soccer program, Coach Brandon “Futo” Futagaki brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the game to the field. Known for his ability to inspire players, Coach Futo has left an indelible mark on the soccer community.

Hailing from a true soccer family, Coach Futo’s brother played professionally for MLS Chicago Fire and UCLA, providing him with valuable insights into the highest levels of the game. His coaching journey began at Fountain Valley High School, where he honed his skills for 6 years before ascending to assist at Orange Coast College for an additional 3 years.

As a player, Coach Futo emerged from the premier club system, showcasing his talent for SCSC United, Newport Beach Lions, OC United, and NHB Black. This extensive playing background serves as a foundation for his coaching philosophy, emphasizing skill development and tactical awareness.

Coach Futo holds an E level coaching license, a testament to his commitment to ongoing education and coaching excellence. He furthered his academic pursuits at Cal State University, Long Beach, attaining a B.A. in Communication Studies and a Masters in Education.

Currently, Coach Futo imparts his knowledge and passion at Valley Vista High School, instructing P.E., Health, Weight Training, and Cinematic Arts. His multifaceted approach to education and athletics empowers students both on and off the field.

Beyond the soccer pitch, Coach Futo finds solace in his Huntington Beach abode, where he indulges in his love for surfing and golf. This balanced lifestyle reflects his belief in the holistic development of individuals, both as athletes and as individuals.

Coach Futo’s enduring dedication to the beautiful game and his unwavering commitment to the growth of his players make him an invaluable asset to the soccer community. His coaching continues to inspire generations of players to strive for excellence.
